Former Michigan State standout Draymond Green has been named to the USA Select Team, USA Basketball announced today.
Green, who will be heading into his third season with the Golden State Warriors, is one of 13 players selected to the team that will train with the USA National squad next week in Las Vegas.
Those joining Green on the Select squad include Warriors teammate Harrison Barnes, former Michigan stars Tim Hardaway Jr. (New York Knicks) and Trey Burke (Utah Jazz) and former Indiana standouts Victor Oladipo (Orlando Magic) and Cody Zeller (Charlotte Hornets). Jimmy Butler and Doug McDermott of the Chicago Bulls, Orlando’s Tobias Harris, Brooklyn’s Mason Plumlee, Phoenix’s Miles Plumlee, Boston’s Marcus Smart and Cleveland’s Dion Waiters round out the team, which will help the national squad prepare for the FIBA World Cup.
The 24-year old Green averaged 6.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the Warriors last season. He concluded his second season strong, averaging 11.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 blocks during the playoffs for Golden State.
